Building a website without a strategy is like opening a business without a plan. Creating a viable and scalable website strategy is a crucial part of building a successful online business. Your strategy should take into account what your company offers today, what it will offer tomorrow, and what you plan to offer five or more years down the road. Build for today with tomorrow in mind and your website can have a solid foundation that can handle growth.

To create a successful strategy you have to know what, specifically, the website is supposed to DO for your business. Is it a brochure that tells people a bit about you and provides directions to your brick and mortar location? Do you want to sell products online? Will your online business compete with or complement your brick and mortar business if you have one? What will clients expect to accomplish? Who are your clients? Will you be selling to the same client base in five years or do you anticipate a change in your target market?

These are just a few of the key questions we need to discuss before we begin to design your website – which IS your business online. It’s not enough just to be there, or to look good (though we do that, too) – it’s critical that your website serves a purpose for your business that you can track and translate into revenue.
